What do you do on daily basis?
My duties vary day-to-day. We’re a start-up company so I do a number of things. I could be cutting music for our music licensing website, pitching ideas for company growth or events, putting ideas in comprehensive plans/pitches, contacting new talent and pitching them for the site, closing licensing deals, planning launch events, styling music videos and photo shoots and scouting new talent.
How has social media affected the way you do business?
Social media has brought a new outlet into the world of finding music. I’m able to find an artist, contact them and hear back the same day. Social media allows people to get to know you quicker and make sure you’re not a scam artist or a serial killer! The music business is all about relationships, and using social media allows you to build relationships quicker and more efficiently.
How do you use social media today?
I use social media to post new articles from our company blog, I use it for up-to-date news, to keep in touch with friends overseas, everything!
What are you predictions on how social media is used in your industry?
For the music industry I think social media will allow indie labels to pin point artists quicker than the majors. Our staff is smaller an pays more attention to detail. This will eventually allow indies to surpass the majors when it comes to finding and communicating with unsigned talent.
